Radiation Oncology Center
Radiation Oncology Comes to Henry County
For many years, cancer patients in the area have received cancer services at Henry Medical Center. The Cancer Program, which is supported by HMC surgeons, medical oncologists, and radiation oncologists, is an American College of Surgeons accredited cancer program. It has been a dream of many to have radiation therapy, a key component in the treatment of cancer, on the campus of the hospital. After much planning, the new Henry Radiation Oncology Center broke ground last summer. The new center will open to treat patients in July 2010.
The physician staff of Radiation Oncology Services brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to Henry Radiation Oncology Center. ROS has been a leader in Radiation Therapy in the metropolitan Atlanta area since 1985. While ROS’ board-certified physicians provide care to
all patients in need of radiation therapy, ROS physicians have special interest and expertise in the treatment of prostate, breast, gynecologic and head/neck cancers. Visit http://www.radonc.com to learn more about Radiation Oncology Services.

Leading Edge Technology.
The center will feature:
Elekta Synergy®: The state-of-the-art linear accelerator for the delivery of radiation therapy for the treatment of cancer. Synergy® combines the most advanced radiation therapy techniques, such as intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), with image guided radiation therapy (IGRT) in order to treat a cancer with precision and accuracy while sparing the normal organs around the cancer. Cancer patients will also benefit from new technology that will shorten IMRT treatments to just minutes a day.
Treatment Planning: The Philips Pinnacle® treatment planning computer allows the radiation oncologist to customize a specific treatment plan for each individual patient. With the help of the sophisticated Pinnacle® system, the radiation oncologist views the radiation dose in 3-dimensions thus maximizing the cancer killing radiation to the cancer while minimizing the radiation to other areas of the body. The overall goal is to cure the cancer while minimizing the treatment related side effects.
Electronic Medical Records (EMR): The Center will operate in a paperless environment through oncology-specific software from IMPAC®. Medical records will be electronically integrated to include all medical reports, consultations, x-rays, radiation treatment records, nursing assessments and billing information.
