Spring Fashion Parade
Henry Medical Center’s Auxiliary invites the community to its “Spring Fashion Parade” Luncheon & Fashion Show fundraising event on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at 11:30 A.M. at McDonough Christian Church on Jonesboro Road. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at the hospital Gift Gallery located in the South Tower through Saturday March 6.
Affairs by Pinehurst Tea Room will cater the “Spring Fashion Parade.” JCPenney will outfit models and Damon’s Design Team will provide hairstylists for the fashion show.

FREE Diabetes Awareness Screening
Henry Medical Center will sponsor a free Diabetes Awareness Screening on Thursday, March 18 from 9 A.M. - 1 P.M. at the Wal-Mart in McDonough. During the diabetes screening, participants will receive a blood glucose screening, symptoms education and prevention information.
Risk factors for diabetes include heredity, obesity, age and being a woman who has had a baby weighing more than nine pounds. Symptoms of the disease may include frequent urination, excessive thirst, extreme hunger, extreme weight loss, increased fatigue, irritability and blurry vision. Diabetes may be prevented by eating healthy, exercising regularly and controlling levels of blood glucose and lipids.

Lung Disease Seminar
Henry Medical Center will offer a Lung Disease Seminar on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 from 7 P.M. to 9 P.M. in the Foundation Education Center.
Dr. Tarsem L. Gupta of Atlanta Pulmonary Care will present information on chronic lung disease. Topics of discussion will include types of lung conditions and their causes, current methods of diagnosis and treatments available.
A focus of the discussion will be Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) also known by other names, such as emphysema or chronic bronchitis. COPD is a progressive disease that makes it hard to breathe. COPD can cause coughing that produces large amounts of mucus, wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness, and other symptoms. Risk factors for COPD include smoking, environmental exposure to certain chemicals, dust, or fumes that can irritate the lungs, and genetic factors including a genetic condition known as alpha-1 antitrypsin, or AAT, deficiency.
